🍁Pigeon falls in halakanda💦

 

 Pigeon Falls is the most beautiful waterfall I have ever visited in Sabaragamuwa. Although it is a relatively small waterfall, it has a strange beauty. This time we will visit Pigeon Falls through "Journey of Gem City "💎 . 

                            Pigeon Falls is located in the small village of Helakanda, about 25 km from Ratnapura town. The Rathganga River which flows from the Sri Pada rain forest creates this waterfall near the temple in the village of Helakanda.

                                             Hashen and I set out in the morning with a group of friends from Ratnapura. Within half an hour we reached the Halakanda Temple through the misty tea plantations. We started our trek to the falls with the permission of the temple monks. It was an unbelievable sight to the eyes.

                           

The waterfall cascades down from the top of a large cave. The waterfall falls into a large deep reservoir.  To get to the cave you have to swim through that deep water. It is about ten feet deep.  Luckily everyone on our team can swim.

                    We swam and entered the cave. The dark cave, the fog, the deep water and the trees create a mysterious environment. We enjoyed the beauty and headed to the nearby Goxing Falls.

 Although beautiful, Pigeon Falls is dangerous. The moisture around the waterfall makes the inside of the cave slippery. If you can't swim because the water is so deep, it is dangerous to go into the water. If you are also visiting Pigeon Falls, be aware of that.
